I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks

I had been running and racing competitively for over 26 years before I joined Runner's Edge.  Almost all of my miles through the years were done on my own. Ah, the lonliness of the long distance runner!  But I finally decided to break out of my rut and try a training team.  After experimenting with a couple of other groups, I settled on Runner's Edge  and the results have been truly amazing.  After running marathons for years in the range of 3:19 to 3:30 (when I was able to stay healthy and finish at all), after one session with Runner's Edge I ran my next race in 3:10, then my next in 3:07 besting a PR set twenty years earlier!

It's a well know fact that training groups are great for first time marathoners.  But I'm here to testify that veteran runners can experience incredible benefits in a group setting, too.  Some of the benefits are phyiscial.  The mix of workouts carefully planned out by Coach David direclty translate to more speed and more toughness, and truly challenge me more than I would ever challenge myself when training by myself.  But maybe more important are all the mental and emotional benefits that come from training with the group.  Nowadays when I race, I think a lot about all of my great teammates, draw inspiration from them, and power through those tough spots in any race for the glory of the team!  Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but it really works.

Thanks for expanding my running horizons while lowering my times.  I couldn't do it on my own.
